Peep pops!

I think we can all agree that the best part of an Easter basket is the Peeps! Whether you inflate them in the microwave, love them soft and fresh, or a day or two old they are beautiful and delicious! 8 years ago I met my Peep soul mate and we’ve been gorging ourselves on them ever since!


When I was walking the aisles of target (a weekly happening, much to the chagrin of my wallet) I spotted these adorable paper straws. The colors were just right for spring, and perfect for the peeps already nestled in my cart.


Let’s gather up our ingredients! You’re going to need some white chocolate melts, a touch of veggie oil, your favorite gel food colors (I picked teal and purple), a variety of sprinkles, some peep bunnies and colorful paper straws.


Line a baking sheet with wax paper, this will be the landing pad for your chocolate covered delights!

First melt your chocolates in the microwave. I melt mine in 30 second blasts, stirring after each round until melted. Add a couple of tablespoons of vegetable oil to your chocolate, this helps thin the mixture so it coats your peeps evenly.



Take your peeps and push a straw through the bottom.


Dip one peep at a time into your chocolate. Make sure you coat from the ears to the base of the straw, this will keep your peep from flopping around on the straw.

After you dip your peep, you can add any color sprinkles to it that you want!


When you’re tired of white colored peeps, add a few drops of your gel coloring to the melted chocolate and turn them into a different shade!

Let your peeps dry and harden, then you can wrap them in come cellophane and tie a ribbon around them!




BOOM! Peeptastic desserts! The best part is that you could easily make enough for your kid’s classroom!
